We Listen Before We Recommend
If bedrooms feel damp or windows collect condensation, we first look for the causes. Then we explain which ventilation options may help.
Airmax supplies and installs ventilation systems for residential and commercial clients across Christchurch, Rolleston, Selwyn and wider Canterbury. We welcome enquiries from Ashburton, Rakaia, Pegasus and Akaroa; Twizel and other longer-distance work is assessed by scope.
The suitable approach depends on the building, occupancy, moisture and airflow concerns, existing heating, usable installation space and how fresh and stale air can move safely. Ventilation alone cannot guarantee the removal of condensation or mould.
Airmax assesses ventilation for homes, rentals, tiny homes, offices, commercial spaces and other suitable buildings. A useful recommendation starts with the layout, moisture sources, access and the way the building is used.
A conventional roof-space layout is not the only situation Airmax can assess. Tiny homes and buildings without a usable roof cavity may need a different equipment position, duct route or ventilation approach. Send the building type, approximate dimensions, photos and available wall or ceiling access so Airmax can assess what is practical. No single system suits every compact building.

Use this page when considering a new ventilation system or significant upgrade. If an existing system has weak airflow, noise, overdue filters or another performance concern, start with Airmax’s servicing and maintenance page. For localised wet-area or cooking extraction, see kitchen rangehood and bathroom extraction.
Moisture doesn’t just appear out of nowhere. It’s created by many of the things you do every day, and without proper ventilation, it has nowhere to escape. Over time, that trapped moisture can lead to condensation, damp patches, mould, and a home that never quite feels fresh. These are some of them:
You cannot stop moisture from being created, nor should you. It’s a natural part of daily life. The key is making sure it has somewhere to go. A well-designed ventilation system helps remove damp, stale air and replace it with fresh air, making your home feel drier, healthier, and far more comfortable to live in. And that’s exactly what we do.
The right ventilation system depends on your building and the problems you want to solve. Positive-pressure and heat-recovery systems both move air, but they work differently.
Positive Pressure Ventilation: This system draws filtered air from the roof space and pushes it into the home. As a result, indoor air moves out through gaps and vents. Airmax checks the roof space and building before recommending this approach.
Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV/ERV): This system brings in outdoor air and extracts stale indoor air. At the same time, a heat exchanger transfers warmth between the air streams. This helps limit heat loss while providing ventilation. The right design still depends on the property.
Not sure which option suits you? First, tell us about your home and the moisture or airflow concerns. Then we can assess the practical options for your layout and budget.

Older villas, modern builds, and renovated homes all behave differently. We’ll recommend a ventilation system that suits your home’s layout, insulation, and the everyday moisture problems you’re experiencing.
A ventilation system is only as good as its installation. Our team carefully positions vents, ducting, and equipment to keep fresh air moving where it’s needed and maintain a neat, professional finish.
After installation, we explain how to use the system. You can also contact us later with questions about its controls or maintenance.
Yes. First, Airmax checks the layout, occupancy and available wall or ceiling access. We then assess where equipment and air routes could fit.
Airmax handles residential ventilation and separately assessed commercial ventilation projects across its Canterbury service area.
Ventilation can help manage moisture and stale air. However, condensation and mould can have several causes. We assess the building and moisture sources before recommending a solution.
Airmax can assess ventilation servicing and maintenance. The work required depends on the system, access and the cause of the concern.
