A heat-pump quote should help you understand more than the price. It should explain what is being proposed, why it suits the property and what happens before, during and after installation.
1. What information was used to size the system?
Room area is only one factor. Ask how insulation, glazing, layout, sun, ceiling height, local conditions and intended use were considered. EECA’s good-practice guide explains why correct sizing matters.
2. Why is this system type being recommended?
A high-wall, multi-split, ducted or cassette system solves different layout and comfort problems. Ask about the trade-offs, not only the product name.
3. What exactly is included in the quote?
Confirm the indoor and outdoor equipment, pipe and cable routes, drainage, electrical work, mounting, penetrations, commissioning, disposal and any exclusions.
4. Where will the indoor and outdoor units go?
Placement affects airflow, appearance, access, noise and future maintenance. Ask to see the proposed locations before work begins.
5. Who completes the electrical and regulated work?
Ask who is responsible for each part of the job and what records or documentation will be supplied where required.
6. What maintenance will the system need?
Request the manufacturer’s cleaning and maintenance instructions, including safe homeowner filter care and when professional attention may be useful.
7. What product and workmanship warranty terms apply?
Ask for written terms, exclusions and the process if something needs attention. Do not rely on a verbal summary alone.
8. What happens after installation?
A clear handover should cover controls, settings, filter access, basic care and who to contact with questions.
Compare complete proposals
The lowest number is not always the same scope. Compare sizing assumptions, placement, included work, warranty terms and aftercare so you can make a like-for-like decision.
